The Other 10% is Polarisation?

“Showing up is 90% of success”

I always thought that this was one of those “Confucius says” quotes but apparently it was Woody Allen.

I was talking today with Breeze and this came up. We went off on a tangent and talked about how people like Woody Allen and Billy Crystal can have a particular allure to certain people because they have their own brand of edginess and depth. Take Crystal in When Harry Met Sally where he says that before starting a book he always reads the last page so that just in case he dies before he finishes it, he knows how it ends. Or think about the quirkiness of any Woody Allen movie.

To some people, that’s deep and edgy. To others, it’s lame and gay. The same goes for picking up women. To some girls, they think that by being with that kind of guy the perceived depth and edge rubs off on them. They live inside that guy’s aura. Other girls think it’s dumb and don’t want anything to do with the guy.

The point of this post isn’t to say that Allen and Crystal are sex symbols. It’s to say that to inspire interest in some people you must necessarily uninspire interest in others. Some people love their movies and others hate them. That’s always better than being the lowest common denominator.

If you want to learn not to be lame and gay, follow the links below.
