What’s Best Is What’s Best For You

I keep returning to this phrase because there are many ways to skin a cat. The problem is that everyone wants to tell you that their method is the best. That’s a big part of their marketing and something which always sets off my alarm bells. Those bells are especially set off when you’re told that you’re not succeeding with that method because you aren’t working hard enough or, better yet, don’t have the conviction that it will work. I think we all know when we’ve committed to something to the extent that it should work. Trust your gut and work out whether you’re just being sold something.

Whether it’s night, day, online, direct, indirect, etc. there’s going to be a guru out there who’s going to tell you to stop whatever you’re doing and follow their method. And even then, within each branch of Game, there will be guys telling you it has to be done in a certain way. In reality most “gurus” are simply telling you to do the thing that works best for them. I repeat: there are many ways to skin a cat.

Each person has an approach best suited to them and it’s up to them to work out what that is. Go ahead and try different things for a while and even become an acolyte of whichever self-styled guru you pick, but always remember to come back up for air and spend some time away from those influences too. It’s in that time that you’ll incorporate the parts of them into your own Game and those will be the parts which are congruent to you.

And remember, it’s okay to sacrifice your results for a while to try something else. There might be a short term hit to your ego but it is worth it in the long run. At the end of the day Game should be a positive influence on your life.
